Fall in Kyoto is so Beautiful!

"Cycle Tokyo" supposed to be the blog about Tokyo, but why not post some photos from Kyoto. This is the pagoda in Shinnyo-do Temple.

More pictures of Shinnyo-do Temple. A taxi driver has told us that the Temple has the prettiest garden, and he was right. I spent over 20 years in one season weather in Southern California, and it's nice to have four seasons although I really hate cold weather.

Arashiyama and Togetsukyo Bridge. Very popular place and lot of people! The Riki-sha drivers take you anywhere in the area, but we just walked.

Tenryuji Temple. The contrast between red maple trees and green bamboos was so beautiful!

Okochi-sanso. Mr. Okochi was a famous samurai movie star, and the house we visited was his second home where he had stayed when he was filming in Kyoto.

Imperial Palace in Kyoto. The Emperor used to live in Kyoto before the capital of Japan was moved to Tokyo. I like visiting Emperor's property because it's always free and very well maintained.

Back on Wheels

I am still riding bike in Tokyo. I found the international bike group called Half-Fast, and I ride with them from time-to-time. We start in front of the Hyatt Hotel in Roppongi and usually ride on every weekends.

This picture is our starting point in Roppoingi, Tokyo. We rode about 25 miles round trip to bay area that day.

My red Specialized bike, made in USA and migrated to Japan.

Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo with the view of Tokyo bay.

I took this picture on the way home by the Imperial Palace. It was getting dark. Now sunset is around 4:30 pm.

October 4th Nagoya Festival Parade

The highlight of Nagoya Festival Parade was Konishiki, the former Hawaiian Sumo with his wife. It was total surprise to see him in the parade. He was sponsored by Toyota.

The parade started at Nagoya castle. People in the parade were dressed up in the 16th century samurai costumes.

It was very hot day, and I felt sorry to the people who had to wear heavy kimonos and walk several miles.

Nagoya Festival on October 3rd and 4th -- not on bike

Heidi holding the Nagoya Tower!
In the Sakae Park in Nagoya.

My artist friend from OC. I love his tapestries. He had his exhibit in Oasis 21.

Museum in Nagoya. I thought he was dead on the ground but it was just an art!

Nagoya Castle. I went in inside -- it's so cool.
